Last Lord’s Day, 11th March 2018, a young couple were baptised in Casa Branca. She is the daughter of a brother in the assembly, he was associated with the Presbyterian denomination. Both professed to be saved some time ago, and have understood the importance of gathering to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ alone. During the last few years the assembly there had been reduced to only three believers in fellowship, so they are rejoicing in this addition to their number.
Please pray for that assembly, and for the spiritual progress of this young couple.

Pray for Pirassununga
We value your prayers for the assembly in Pirassununga. I can't give details, but we ask you to pray that the Lord might give us peace and one mind in our service for Him (Phil. 4:2).
Baptism in Aguaí
On Monday night we had the joy of seeing another couple baptised in Aguaí, fifty km from here. The assembly there is young (they began breaking bread in March of 2015) and small (they were thirteen in fellowship last year). In the last months they have seen an increase of nine souls — four couples, and the mother of one of the men baptised. All these are people contacted locally in the town. Please pray for that assembly.

Map of our region
The map below shows the main towns in our area. There are assemblies in Ibaté, Descalvado, Porto Ferreira, S. C. das Palmeiras, Casa Branca, Aguaí, Pirassununga, S. C. da Conceição and Leme. There are regular Gospel meetings in Guaxupé, Poços de Caldas, S. J. da Boa Vista and Araras, and door-to-door work is done in other places (Conchal, Analândia, S. R. do Passa Quatro, etc.).
The distance by road from Ibaté (extreme left of map) to Poços de Caldas (to the right of the map) is approximately 215 km, and from Porto Ferreira (north) to Araras (south) approximately 60 km.

Profession of Salvation in Poços de Caldas
Some of you will have heard of a sad case that happened in Poços de Caldas (about 115 km from us) in the beginning of October. A young woman who was coming to the Gospel meetings held every fortnight in that town was attacked by an ex-boyfriend, who killed her current boyfriend and shot at her a few times. She was taken to hospital in coma, but still alive. For a few days she hovered between life and death, and then started recovering. She still has a bullet lodged in her stomach somewhere, and a colostomy has been performed on her.
We were at the meeting there last Tuesday, and heard that she has professed to be saved. The brother in whose house the meetings are held has been a great help to her and her family, but she was not out at the meeting -- not only because her health is still frail, but also because some relatives of her murdered boyfriend have been coming to the meetings, and they blame her for his death.
It's a difficult situation, so we value you prayers for this young woman, and for brother Paulo and his family (who live in Poços and meet with the assembly in Aguaí).

Conference
On the 15th of November, 2017, a national holiday, the assembly in Pirassununga held it's annual conference. The 32 believers catered for around 230 people, mostly from our own region. We rented a large space for this meeting.
Two brethren spoke: Terry Blackman, from Wales, and Maurício de Souza, from the neighbouring town of Sta Cruz da Conceição. We had a two hour session in the afternoon, followed by a break where sandwiches were served, then another two hours in the evening.
The Gospel was also preached, as we had quite a few unbelievers present.
Below is a photo taken a few minutes before we began.

in the late 1960's, Ronnie Watterson and his wife Mary Janeta moved to Descalvado, in the state of São Paulo (Brazil). At that time, there were no assemblies in this region.
From 1969 to 1979 they had the company of Harry and Jean Reid, from Bangor (who later moved on to the North of Brazil). The assembly in Descalvado started soon after, with nine believers in fellowship. They initially met in a wooden hall in our backyard, but at the start of 1970 they moved to a brand new brick hall that Dad and uncle Harry built (although they had no previous knowledge of bricklaying, the hall is still in use to this day).
Four years later an assembly was established in Pirassununga, 25 miles due south from Descalvado, and two years later, on the 12th September 1976, the believers in Ibaté, 37 miles west from Descalvado, began breaking bread.
Today, there are nine assemblies in this region: Ibaté, Descalvado, Porto Ferreira, Sta Cruz das Palmeiras, Casa Branca, Aguaí, Pirassununga, Sta Cruz da Conceição and Leme. God has been gracious to us.
